I wasn’t sure if this would belong in Puzzle Building and Modding or if it made more sense to have it in General Puzzle Topics so if a mod feels that it should be moved, please do so.
How do you take apart a vintage Alexander’s Star without breaking the pieces? Keep in mind that many of these are old and the plastic is brittle.

Years ago I disassembled one with the help of this picture from the old Twisty mega site. The Museum has a copy of this same picture, but at a reduced size so it loses a few details.
It doesn't get much easier after removing the first piece.

Don't do it!!! It is extremely fragile. The plastic breaks very easily. Actually it' s also boring to solve. I recently threw my old specimen in the garbage bin

The reason I started this topic is because I wish to replace some damaged pieces with some from a different puzzle (a puzzle that is already missing a piece).
