i'm building something that looks like this:

...but i don't know what to call it.
i was thinking 'cylindrical dihedron' or 'vaulted dihedron', but i'd like to be precise.
does this solid have a proper mathematical name?

It is dual of sphericon or sphericon side cut. But there could be another names that I'm not aware of.

Is there some other way to get a 2 sided dice? (except a coin :) )

Yes, many, for example any kind of flattened shape that is stable on one of two faces and not stable on its edges, including any pillowed 2D shape (circle, triangle, square, pentagon, etc.). Or a bicone.
