Don´t buy puzzles in this website

http://www.85china.com/default.aspx

My experience:

I bought a puzzle (new auldey cylinder ) and I paid it by PAYPAL (including shipping cost)

After this i recieved an email asking for more money. They said that the weight of the website is not right.

Of course, i said no

and they told me again:

Shipping cost listed on our website is calculated by the estimated weight. After receiving your items from seller,we will recalculate the exact weight for you.
The item is in our warehouse now, if you need to cancel, ,we have to return it to seller, and you have to pay domestic shipping cost $4,do you agree ?

PLEASE DONT BUY ANYTHING IN THIS WEBSITE

Do keep us posted. I have never heard of this sort of thing before.. so it is interesting in the least to know how Paypal reacts :)

Based on what you are saying, I can almost guarantee that Paypal will side with you. They just about always side with the buyer even if the buyer is wrong. Although in this case, you are clearly not wrong. The seller changed the terms.

Do not hold your breath hoping for paypal to make things right. In my case when witeden sent the wrong puzzle and then wanted me to pay extra shipping to be sent the right one, I tried to open a paypal dispute but got told it was "out of our hands".

The site just looks sketchy. Especially with a name like "85 China." Were the prices really that much better to justify taking the chance?

I have never had a dispute by paypal decided against me. It was always either solved by the seller, or paypal issued a refund. It's weird that they would say "out of our hands". Not that I don't believe you mind you.. just.. it's weird.

I think it also depends on whether you have your paypal account directly linked to your credit card and have no money in the PayPal account (so that they can get the cc company to cancel this particular transaction), or whether you still have money in the paypal account that it was paid out of.

I have had a direct link to my bank account (not credit card, I loathe credit cards ) for years now. No money in paypal itself unless I happened to get a refund from somewhere.

With a credit card you can (and likely have to) go to your credit card company.

This is indeed a strange case. Maybe the seller showed PayPal some sort of proof that they had a policy written somewhere about this (something along the lines of "client is responsible for shipping of replacement in case of error"), in which case, PayPal would be powerless. I didn't see any such policy anywhere on their website, but interestingly, they do not accept PayPal anymore...
