The puzzle closest to this design is the Fractured Compino although that is a cubical variant. The rhombic dodecahedral variant combines turns on both types of corners, therefore giving it a hybrid axis system. But the inventor even went one step further as he unbandaged the turns around fourfold corners. These turns now allow for 45° turns. Links
