The Waterfall Cube Ultimate is based on the concept of applying Square-1 vertical cuts based on a 3x3x3, rather than a 2x2x2 like the Square-1. This allows the cuts to be curved, as the puzzles are not deep cut like the Square-1 is.
One month before this puzzle the inventor presented the more bandaged variant called Waterfall Cube Extreme. See the separate entry.

A quirk about the Ultimate is that it can be scrambled in two distinct ways. One can shapeshift the outer layers to insane degrees, but then one can't scramble it using 3x3x3 turns as it is much too bandaged for that. One also has the option of limiting the shapeshifting on the outer layers, and then you are able to scramble it as a bandaged 3x3x3.
