First this puzzle looks like a variant of the Crazy Cube but in a midturn state new moves are available: An edge can be turned with the pieces of the surrounding circle. Image 3 shows the result of such a new turn.
The circle moves are not possible if the puzzle is in cubic shape.
This project is one of the oldest of its creator, Félix Nadin. After several tries to prototype it (clay prototyping, sticking together precisely cut slices of wood to reproduce an additing-manufacturing method,...) the designer finally decided to use computer design and printed his first prototype in 2014. The design stayed then 4 years in a drawer before its designer finally stickered it and published decent pictures.
With the (non-super) stickers shown here the puzzle has 400477259835070962019908211789094304642052357471641483167662080000000000000000000=4*10^80 permutations.
