This puzzle's name comes from Notakto - a variant of tic-tac-toe where both players use the same symbol (usually X) and where three symbols in a row is a losing position.
Notakto Cube is 3x3x3 variant where some stickers have X symbol on them and some don't. Permutations where three of those symbols are lined up horizontally or vertically on any face are not reachable. As a result there can emerge bandaging comparable to the Constrained Cube.
