A higher-order Pyramorphix. A 3x3x3 transformed into the shape of a tetrahedron.
If made by hand the builder has to start by truncating the 3x3x3 into a Half-Truncated cube. Afterwards extensions have to built and glued onto the remaining six faces of the original cube.
The history of this puzzle is at least difficult.
Probably the first version of this puzzle was made by Tony Fisher in 1991. Tony never never revealed it until 2008 but in CFF 51 (released 2000) Dieter Gebhardt already knew that this variant was implemented by Tony Fisher. Jürgen Brandt had already made this variant independent from Tony or the article in CFF when that article was released.
Mr. Gebhardt called this puzzle it simply "Tetrahedron from 3x3x3". The name given here was mentioned for the first time in 2002 in the predecessors of this site.
Image 7 was made by Andreas Nortmann with an intentionally misleading sticker scheme.
Nowadays there are white and black mass produced versions from Mefferts which give credit to Tony Fisher. These industrial versions are named "Master Pyramorphinx".
