Unbandaging a Helicopter Cube means to split up an internal piece. This gives the puzzle more possible moves. The state shown in image 2 is not possible on the standard Helicopter cube.
The concept of unbandaging a Helicopter Cube was presented for the first time in 2009 by Tom van der Zanden. Tom didn't implement this concept, instead presented the similar Curvy Copter Plus one year later.
In 2011 Eric Vergo was the first to implement this concept with a 3D printed version. The images of this entry show a sample hand built by Jeong Eun Cheol.
