After negotiations between avid Pitcher and Calvin Fan about "Insanity Cubed" David redesigned the original Edge of Insanity to give it a taller, more elegant diamond-like shape.
There was a short-lived plan to manufacture this puzzle in addition to the cubic version. However, it became apparent that the elongated (tall) version of Edge of Insanity would not be easy to play since it is not readily apparent when other turns are available (with the original shape the faces align with each other when other slice planes are available).
