A puzzle from the soviet era. Its title translates to "Squaring the circle"
This puzzle is named ?????????? ?????, transliterated Kvadratura Kruga which means squaring the circle.
This puzzle is a soviet equivalent of the Whirlgig with 9 wheels.
Produced in Riga.
The alternative package (image 10) names the puzzle "Rinka Kvadratura".
The original price is based on the official exchange rate (0.6 roubles per dollar) although in socialist time this was completely theoretical. The price (in roubles) is visible on the puzzle's back.
The leaflet came with russian and latvian instructions.
They can be translated as follows:
Quadrature of Circle
Logical game for children from 8 years old.
A "Quadrature of Circle" game is meant for development of attention, memory and spatial imagination.
Rules of the game: by sequential moving of the handles mix the colours of movable elements. Then arrange them so that the same-colour elements form squares (except for grey colour elements).
Attention! Next turn of a handle is only possible when the sides of the squares formed by adjacent handles and movable elements are parallel to the sides of the frame.
