A puzzle with intersecting circles and bandaged pieces. Produced in low quantity in seven different variants.

This puzzle is one of Douglas Engel's patented creations made in low quantities. It is covered by the same patent as Gizmo Gears, Dancing Gears and Magical Gears.
Compared with the other puzzles the cuts have an eightfold symmetry. The puzzle is unusual in another way because it is bandaged.
In 2010 was a lengthy discussion on the forum about whether it is truly a bandaged or a jumbling puzzle. The 8th image shows the theoretical unbandaged puzzle and therefore prooves that it does not jumble.

Battle Gear came in seven different versions which pieces are differently coloured. The first images show the variant "Spy". The other images have the names of the variants in their captions.

The puzzles can be obtained directly from Douglas Engel who makes them with laser cutting.

In 2022 a different inventor redesigned the puzzle in a mechanism without gears. See image 12.
The inventor uses the pseudonym "El Cubitero".
Printed in PETG plastic with an Ender 3
Width: 11 mm
Diameter (of circles): 52 mm
