A standard 3x3x3 cube with edges and corners shaved flat giving it 26 sides, and making it a lot simpler. Solved as a normal Rubik's cube, but with less variation. This puzzle is closely related to the Rhombicuboctahedron.
The so far earliest known point in time this puzzle was mentioned was in Cubic Circular #1 by David Singmaster in 1981.
Back then he called it "Small Rhombi-cubo-octahedron".
In Cubic Circular #3 (1982) Singmaster reported a version with ten colors.
