There have been at least three persons who independently truncated a Square-1 into the shape of a sphere.
First one was Quinn Lewis in 2006 who named his creation Sphere-1. See the first image.
The second was Ben VonDerHaar in 2009, who named his creation Round-1. See the second image.
The third was Claus Wenicker in 2009, who named his creation SQ1-Sphere. See the third image.
Although Claus' version is uniformly stickered in yellow the puzzle is not trivial because the pieces have different shapes.
