After mass production of the Master Skewb started this was one of the earliest shape transformations made out of it. Its similarities with the Face turning octahedron are obvious and not surprising since the FTO and master skewb share the same axis system. Compared with the FTO this puzzle has an additional set of pieces present, namely the triangular faces which are equivalent to the master skewbs corners.
