Correctly proportional Master (4-layer) Face Turning Octahedron.
The first working Master FTO prototype was made in summer 2010 by Timur Evbatyrov. Because of the high number of pieces, most of the pieces were cast with epoxy resin. However, this implementation did not turn very good, mostly because of inaccuracy that arises during casting pieces. In March 2011 he slighly improved the mechanism and made a fully 3D printed design, which turned to be much better.
The mechanism uses a skewb core structure with rectangular pieces being the corner pieces of the octahedron.
In 2021 a mass produced version (see images 4-6) hit the market. It is produced in these body colours: black, white, green, orange, red, yellow, pink, purple, light blue and stickerless.
Materials: ABS
Size: 66 x 82 x 90 mm
Weight: ca. 200 grams
