The first puzzle with the name "Edges only 4x4x4" can be found under the name "Cornerless 4x4x4" in the database. The idea for this transformation was born after seeing that other transformation. From the 4x4x4 it was made from only the edges are left over. To let the puzzle retain its hexahedral shape the edges had to be heavily modified. Links
