This puzzle was made by extending an Ultimate Skewb. First it was extended into a copy of the small stellated dodecahedron skewb (see the database and the fourth image). Afterwards more extensions were placed between the pieces. All extensions are out of solid resin which explains the high weight of the puzzle. This is the second of four regular stellations of the dodecahedron (see wikipedia for more details).
This transformation was not only made from a small stellated dodecahedron. This solid is also the geometric dual solid of the small stellated dodecahedron.
Image 4 explains the puzzle even more: Blue is a modified face of the skewb. Yellow is a modifed corners of a skewb.
