The shape in solved position is a rhombohedron. If you take the remaining pieces from the two pyramorphix and build a puzzle with equal symmetry you get the flat star. Depending on the relative position of the two protruding pieces this puzzle can have 3 different shapes.
For a long time it has been a custom variant only but no later than 2018 a mass produced version "Flying Shuttle" hit the market.
