Hi Forum, I am happy to present my first version of the Puzzle I am calling The Astrominx. This is a icosahedral transformation of The starminx(my all time favorite puzzle), which was first made by Aleh and then by Drewseph. The staminx mechanism that I used was based off Work done by Clayton Ertly(Clay n Eva Creations). The stickers were cut by Eitan (pirsquared). I will not be selling this puzzle, because there are a few things I would like to change about the design, It's not perfect yet and I want it to be before I sell one.

This is flippin' amazing!

I <3 the starminx, and I <3 icosahedra. Best combo ever!

This puzzle was fantastic, though a bit loose, just adjust the center pieces as I mentioned and it should move beautifully!

This is a very pretty puzzle!

He used 10 colors, making opposite faces the same color. It looks great stickered!

I got to try this out yesterday at MIT, and so did Drew, and we agreed that with some tweaking of the tolerances and larger fillets this puzzle will be really, really good. I'm excited to see the next version!

It's not quite the starminx, it's better. It still has the megaminx corners.

This is great! Another icosahedron, Doubleyou  . This is probably the second-deepest cut vertex-turning icosahedron in existence, right after Jason's Icosamate.

Indeed. This puzzle is GelatinBrain 2.2.3, whereas the true icosahedral implementation of the starminx would be GelatinBrain 2.2.4. The cut depth of 2.2.4 is even deeper. But this puzzle is more difficult. 2.2.3's [Edit: thanks for pointing that mistake out, Elwyn] dual would be GelatinBrain 1.1.4.

Fantastic puzzle!

As you can see from the video, the puzzle needs some tweaking, but I am confident version 2 will be much better.

It has been mentioned a couple times in this thread that this isn't a true icosahedral starminx, and now that I think about it it is true. Its just a starminx with more parts exsposed.

Wow, you got that stickered fast!

Awesome puzzle, and despite you saying you don't want to sell it due to quality, I thought it was quite nice!

Nothing like the icosaminx at all. Look carefully at where the cuts are :D

now, if the icosominx cuts were on top of the cuts on this, that'd be awesome, kinda like a higher order icosominx.
Great puzzle! Fairly good quality for a version 1.
